How to share YouTube or X subtitles
A subtitle link helps another person watch existing subtitles on the same original video. It does not host the video or grant access to restricted media. This sharing entry supports YouTube and X.
Create a link
- Sign in to the extension on the original YouTube / X page and choose the subtitle source and languages.
- Open full-video preparation and check the video and subtitle progress.
- Confirm that sharing makes the entry public in the subtitle catalog and potentially searchable by search engines. Select Share subtitle link, wait for processing and copy the displayed link.
- Send the link to the recipient. For complete captions, continue translation and recheck progress first.
How recipients watch
The recipient can view video and language information on the share page, then sign in to WatchTranslate, install the extension in desktop Chrome / Edge and return to the original YouTube or X video. The original video must remain accessible.
Existing subtitles for the same video, source and languages can be reused free. Sharing does not create missing segments; generating new subtitles while watching follows normal admission and billing rules.
Partial progress, pauses and errors
A link can be created with zero or partial progress. Pausing keeps completed results. Sharing is not a shortcut to generating full subtitles.
Wait while the button says Processing. On failure follow the message and retry, checking the network and original video if needed. Recheck after changing the video, source or languages.
FAQ
Can I share local-file or Bilibili subtitles this way?
This link entry currently supports only YouTube and X. Local subtitles can be exported as SRT / VTT; provide the original video yourself.
