How to translate embedded text subtitles
An embedded foreign-language text track can be translated without recognizing speech again. Support depends on the container, subtitle codec and browser playback; not every MP4 or MKV qualifies.
Select a track and start
- Open the file in the local player, sign in and wait for preparation.
- Choose a detected embedded text track under subtitle source, or audio recognition if none is usable.
- Choose the embedded track and target language. The track’s declared language supplies the source language; optional manual source selection is shown for audio recognition only.
- Explicitly start translation and play. Select original, translated or bilingual display.
- After changing sources, start again. Audio and track progress belong to different subtitle sets.
Supported subtitle codecs
MP4 / MOV: tx3g and wvtt text tracks. MKV / WebM: SRT, ASS, SSA and WebVTT text tracks. Text is translated; complex ASS styling is not preserved.
Image subtitles such as PGS / VobSub, TTML / stpp, unknown codecs and fragmented MP4 are unsupported. Try audio recognition when no usable text track exists. Safari cannot prepare MKV in this player; use a compatible browser or format.
Fees and privacy
The track path sends only text needed for translation; the video stays local. The audio path sends the audio segments needed to generate captions.
Text translation costs 0.2 credits per minute and audio recognition 1 credit per minute. Failures are not charged. Generated captions can be watched, prepared for the full video and exported as SRT / VTT.

Can I import an external SRT file?
This guide covers text tracks inside the video container and does not promise external subtitle-file import. Choose audio recognition when no supported embedded track exists.
